The Frog Pond

As children my two sisters and I walked by the light from our back porch down through the woods around huge boulders to reach the frog pond for an evening skate. Other times we skated in the feeble winter sun, we didn't go home until our feet were numb with cold and our bellies were growling from hunger. In the spring the peepers in this same frog pond serenaded us all night. I did my best to stay awake as long as possible under the magic spell of their music. We were so lucky to have grown up where we did. These memories and others have stayed in my memory and as with other fond memories I've tried to paint what I remember.
